Like Google Docs: menus, styles, fonts, tables, find and replace, full screen and the HTML code alongside.
Kitdesk is a free text editor in your browser that feels like Google Docs and Word: menus, heading styles, fonts, colours, lists, tables, images, find and replace and a full screen mode. Nothing to install and no sign-up.
What sets it apart is the HTML code next to the document. Paste text from Word or Google Docs and the editor shows how many needless tags and attributes can go. One button leaves clean, semantic HTML with headings, lists, tables and links, ready for WordPress or any other CMS.
Your text never goes to a server: the document is kept only in your browser. Open Word (.docx), ODT, RTF, HTML, Markdown and TXT files, and save as Word, PDF, HTML, Markdown or TXT.
Yes. The editor, HTML cleaning and file downloads are free and work without an account.
Only in this browser on your device: nothing is sent to a server. Clearing site data or opening another browser means the document is not there, so download a copy (.docx) of anything important.
No. Open the page and start writing. You need no account to edit or to download files.
Open: Word (.docx), ODT, RTF, HTML, Markdown, TXT. Save: Word (.docx), PDF (through the print window, choose Save as PDF), HTML, Markdown and TXT. Re-save old Word 97–2003 .doc files as .docx first.
Paste your text, switch to the Both view and press Clean code. The standard set removes div, span, font, style and class attributes and Word junk, but keeps headings, lists, tables, bold text and links. Then copy the code into the Code tab of the WordPress editor.
Yes. A phone shows just the document, without the code and outline, which you can turn on in the View menu. A computer is easier for long texts and for working with code.
The editor turns on your browser's built-in spell checker for the page language: unknown words are underlined and the right-click menu suggests fixes.
